1. WATER AND RIVERS FEATURES IN OLUNYALA (K)
  1. Akhalo- rivulet
  2. Amayengo- waves on waves from dropped object
  3. Amayengoyengo- ripples on water surface.
  4. Echale- wet loose soil with high water table.
  5. Efuukho- shallow cross section area of a river similar to shoal deposit.
  6. Efula- rain
  7. Efututusi- spring.
  8. Ekewa- grassland with high water table.
  9. Ekhupo- water fall.

  15. Esikucha- pond with salt water and soil lick. The soil is called esirongo.
  16. Esiluungu- seasonal water reservoir between hills.
  17. Esimirasongo- underground sinkhole-turnel's mouth on the riverbed.

  19. Etabalia- dam or water reservoir near river where animals could plunge. Also for pools of water on land after rain.

  40. Olwaayiro- beach left bare due to water tide. The action of retreating tide is called okhwaaya.
  41. Omukhula- flowing water after rain. Also for flood caused by rain away from river.
  42. Omukhweyulo- landslide.
  43. Omurinda- soil ridge put across the river to block flow of water or to divert it.
  44. Omutalu- the salty water found in salty soil pond called esirongo.

  24. Oweni lwa akhataywa- Ball lightening or powerline arc of lightening. It strikes long even after the main strike if one walks in the affected area.
  25. Olweni lwa ekhupa- cloud to ground or ground to cloud lightning. 
  26. Olweni lwa ekulu- Anvil lightening or bolt from the blues that strikes away from the parent thinderstorm.

  DICTIONARY OF OLUNYALA (K) - ENGLISH VERBS ABSTRACT Olunyala (K) is one of the more than   1 7 dialects of the Luyia language spoken in Western Kenya, East Africa (Angogo,   1 980; Guthrie,   1 967; Osogo, 1 966). ABANYALA BA KAKAMEGA: Abanyala Music, Dances and Clothing

Abanyala ba Kakamega have songs and dances during most of their cultural activities. The singing and dancing comprise of key elements: the dancing arena (omuse), authentic songs melodies ( emienya ), the singers ( ab'embi ), the authentic dance styles ( oukhino ), the authentic costumes and decor ( emiefwalo ) and authentic instrumentation ( amakhana ). Abanyala dances are usually fast paced dances. A] SONGS AND DANCE IN CULTURAL SETTING Most cultural activities have an accompanying song. Abanyala sing during any of the following situations: a) During the following ceremonial rites, songs and dance were performed:  Funeral (emienya kya esibera) sang during and, after funeral occassions. ABANYALA BA KAKAMEGA: The Clan of Abasonge.

Abasonge is one of the clans among the Abanyala ba Kakameka. This Abasonge clan of the Abanyala is one among the six Abasonge sub-clans found among six sub-tribes of Western Kenya. It is with a lot of curiosity to note that Basonge or Abasonge or Abasonje in Kenya do share a name with the Basonge (originally Songye) in Zaire. However, they may be a different people or same people who separated centuries ago. 1. The six family groups of Abasonge. Though seen as six various groups, the Abasonge in Abanyala do not intermary with any of other Abasonge because they believe they were originally one people from the leneage of Songe se Songiek.
