ABANYALA BA KAKAMEGA: Parts of a chicken and Other poultry.

Main parts of a chicken
Chicken and other poultry have body parts that have names in Olunyala (K). The followong are the key parts.
  1. Eliani (Esihango)- a name used for slaughtered chicken. The word engokho is reserved for a live chicken 


  2. Ekosi- neck

  3. Emondo- gizzard. 
    Emondo



  4. Enjulunjumbu- drumstick and thigh together. 

  5. Enjumbu- drumstick

     
  6. Esundi- pope's nose. 
  7. Etuchu- shoulder and breast with clavicle bone.
  8. Okhulenge- shank; leg of chicked from knee to toes. 

  9. Omuchwe- head
  10. Olubaha- drummette, wingette and flipper.
  11. Olupapaliro- wingette and flipper.
  12. Omuchwe- the head. 

  13. Omukongo- back
Other parts of the body of poultry and birds. 
  1. Amala- interstines
  2. Amalalasi
  3. Ebikaanakana- spikes on the cockscomb
  4. Ekhambalia- scales on  kegs of birds
  5. Elioya- feather
    1. Elioya efumbo- body feathers
    2. Elioya liesisule- feathers protruding behind the head.
    3. Elioya liekutusi- feathers on head
    4. Elioya liolulefu- beard feathers on turkey.
    5. Elioya liesuchi- tail feathers.
    6. Elioya lieswiichi- sickle feather
  6. Eng'ato (engato)- web between toes of a duck
  7. Enjala- toes.
  8. Esakhiro- crop
  9. Esiango- entire chicken that is roasted and served whole.
  10. Esibende- abnormally short legs in birds.
  11. Esuchi- back end of chicken
  12. Eteche- claws.
  13. Olubambo- toe at back of leg in mature chicken; spur
  14. Oluika- horn found in some birds such as guinea fawl 
  15. Olumekero- cockscomb
  16. Olupang'a- casque found above the nose of a hornbill.
  17. Oluyunju- wattles
  18. Omukhobio- vent
  19. Omunwa- beak
