ABANYALA BA KAKAMEGA: Language- Names of animals' young ones.

Olunyala (K) has names for young ones of animals. The following are some of the names.

  1. Amaana- young of bees, wasps; larvae.

  2. Amasibili- young ones of dung beetle; grubs. 

  3. Amawuyiani- young ones of ants; antling. 

  4. Ebikekhe- young ones of crown crane. 

  5. Ekhungu- young ones of an armywarm moths. Children born during their outbreak are called Wakhungu and Nakhungu.

     
  6. Embere- young ones of white ants. 

  7. Ememe- young of a goat, sheep 

  8. Emosi- young one of cattle, antelope, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, donkey, wildebeest. 

  9. Endaana- young one of human at infant stage. Also the young of some primates such as baboon, monkey, gorilla, chimpanzee.
  10. Enjololi- young one of elephants.
  11. Enyende- young of flies; maggots.
  12. Enyende ya'basochi- young of human botfly that host itself in human skin. 

  13. Enyana- young ones of a pig (piglet) and wild birds; hatchlings.
  14. Esiwekera- young one of lion or leopard. 

  15. Enywinywi- young one of a chicken.

  16. Esialulukhe- young one of a snake, lizard, turtle, totoise and alligator. 

  17. Esikingi- young one of a jigger. 

  18. Esikwena- young one of crocodile.
  19. Esiwululo- young one of a rat, cat, mole, rabbit, mice

  20. Esiyoyo- young of a duck; dickling.

  21. Etuli- young one of mud fish.
  22. Kulu- young one of a dog 

  23. Muchwekanya- young one of frog or toad. 

  24. Omwana- young one of human.
  25. Owuchunju- young one of locusts, grasshoppers, cicada; nymph. Men born during a time of outbreak of young locust are called Uchunju.

  27. Owuyende- young ones of safari ants and black ants.
