Ochwana Chuno Chumosi
 
Abasacha ba luno bosi, akang'ali,  mwekala amachwi nga balosi,
Nimwenya khupe ebifusi, akachali, enchumbula embosi chiosi,
Yipatase hasi mwesi, ahamuli, muhulire embosi chiosi,
Ochwana chuno chumosi, esibi ni nanywe siosi?
 
Ebebali nimuli khu wali, kang'ali muli bang'ali,
Muchi, "Ochusolili chwesipoli, chulekhe lusolili nesipoli,"
Nekhane mwesi muli basoli, munywesa ekoli chienduli!
Ochwana chuno chumosi, esibi ni nanywe siosi?
 
Mwicha nimuchutikitia tikitia ochuvafu chwawe,
Ne muchwonona,
Mwicha nimuchukaba kaba ochusende chwenywe,
Ne muchwonona,
Mwicha nimuchuchuna chuna ochulundu chwawe,
Ne muchwonona,
Mwicha nimuchukinga kinga muchutoka chwenywe
Ne muchwonona,
Ochwana chuno chumosi, esibi ni nanywe siosi?
 
Nichwenya mbo chusomekho, si mukanyata,
     Amakhuwa oo ii, mu chuomberesa omberesa.
Nichwenya mbo chwibachekho, si muchumokata,
     Emilusi swii swii, mu chulangirisa langirisa.
Nichenya mbo chukhayekho, si muchulekhata
     Engumi pu pii, mu chukhupirisa khupirisa.
Ochwana chuno chumosi, esibi ni nanywe siosi?
 
Boda boda nimuli khusoko, muli nga ababini ba okuloko
Muyenya amakeko nga esoko, ne mkwa emboko chiebituko,
Mbo ko, "Ayeko mwana mukoko, nakhusima nga emiko!"
Ochwana chuno chumosi, esibi ni nanywe siosi?
 
Espwoni siachwo silala, sivaye siriri okhwola,
Mwakhaba nimuli njala, lekhe okhufukhulula,
Ochwana chuno chumosi, esibi ni nanywe siosi?
Ese encheba echeba, enywe basacha enywe
Kuno kwosi kwakhaba, musambwa kwenywe?

Lumuulera muuliye , lumulera mboleye henywe.

IKSIRI

Maghani Omukoko Ayeko yametungwa kwa lugha ya Olunyala (K). Omukoko Ayeko tafsiri yake ni 'Dadangu Ayeko. Ayeko ni mschana aliyebadilika tabia na kuiga tabia za wasichana waitwao slayqeens. Anakataa vyakula na densi za kiasili na kupapia piza na densi ya tetema. Maghani yanatoa wito kwa Wakenya kivienzi vyakula asilia ili kupunguza adhari za ugonjwa wa saratani. Ni maghani ya kutunga kwa mahadhi asilia ya Olunyala (K) ambayo imeorodheshwa kama Luhgha ISO 939-3 nle ulimwenguni.

Nanyola Ayeko omukoko,

"Ayeko omukoko,

Khulie emioko."

"Ese esipichu Ayeko,

Sindianga emioko."

     Singa olubaha lwekhuyi.

     Achi, "Mbe oluyi,

     Mbekho oluyi

     Ese endi slayi,"

Wakhaywa okhulomba oluyi,

     Ewewe, eria weyima.

Nolengera okhumwenyaa, sia khayama khu lukaye,

    Akhakondo khalayi

Eh! Ne wekhoyera embenyaa, sia edirisia lia Nyasaye,

     Okhupa wusa amayi

Eh! Ne omulanga 'Nasenyaa', ne akenda sikhaye,

     Newe olomba oluyi

Ewe-we! BaKenya baefwe yi,

Lekhane no-oluyi

 

Nuchia mu sibitari, dakitari, achi, "Oluyi owuma?"

Wakhaywa okhulomba oluyi, ewewe ofwa woma.

Achi, "Amalesi kosi, musibitari kawuma," aba kenya oluyi,

Achi "Wulwaye wekosi, dakitari awuma," aba kenya oluyi!

BaKenya baefwe, lekhane no-luyi.

 

Abasikari 'balinda khu mwanda,'

     Si bachunda mu mikunda?

     Bakenda ni baebanda banda,

     Khu mwanda 'khulinda 'bakenda,

     Benya obakhupe oluyi, nda!

BaKenya baefwe lekhane no-luyi.

 

Nuchia mu sisomero 'mwalimu

     Achi, "Sesi mbe oluyi,"

     Wakhaywa khulomba oluyi khusimu,

     Achi, "Koleengo mayi."

No-khupa 'mukhono mukoti,

     No-homba 'mukhono mushati,

     Okhwola otikitie esibeti,

     'Sibeti simwenye hatiti.

N’omukhupa oluyi pa!

 

Ese encheba echeba,

Mana echi encheba:

    Omusikari, mu-'pafula pafula- oluyi

    Pa! Mwalimu, mu-'swandula swandula oluyi,

    Swa! Dakitari, mu-'wundula wundula- oluyi,

Ndu! Njanu, owalecha oluyi?

 

Lekhane no-luyi,

Ese embooye,

Lumuulera bana ba-mayi,

Muuliye.

Abanyala ba Kakamega have various sports and games for children and men in the society. Elderly women only play a role of teaching children the games. The following were the major games. Amakhu - These were fights involving cattle- specifically bulls. The game spontaneously took place at the grazing fields where people enjoyed by cheering and jeering. At times, herdsmen could goad the bulls from one herd to fight with another bull from another herd. This was done after grazing and ignited by forcing the bulls to smell blood from a tick.  No specific organised days and events were reserved for amakhu among Abanyala ba Kakamega. ABANYALA BA KAKAMEGA: Names of Non Edible Wild Mammals.

By Balovera Edwin Ongacho Abanyala have names for many wild non edible mammals. The following is a list of a few of the mammals in Olunyala (K). Efukho - mole. It commonly attacked sweet potatoes. It was trapped using twig of olukhoni that was places at the opening of its hole. Efukho Efuniyusi- skunk.  Efuniusi Ekhene esaha- The Common Vervet Monkey. Its male type was identifiable for having blue scrotum area. Because it was the commonest, its image bacame associated with the word monkey. Many people knew it as the real monkey. Ekhene Ekhima- Blue monkey. Some people still call it a general name as ekhene . However, those in the know use the name ekhima . Ekhima Ekhooli - giraffe. It is also called by use of a borrowed word etika Ekhooli Ekhondo - dark white monkey with a long tail. It tied its tail around tree branches to help it swing around from one branch to the next. ABANYALA BA KAKAMEGA: Abanyala Music, Dances and Clothing

Abanyala ba Kakamega have songs and dances during most of their cultural activities. The singing and dancing comprise of key elements: the dancing arena (omuse), authentic songs melodies ( emienya ), the singers ( ab'embi ), the authentic dance styles ( oukhino ), the authentic costumes and decor ( emiefwalo ) and authentic instrumentation ( amakhana ). Abanyala dances are usually fast paced dances. Their main indigenous dance is called chilumbe. A] SONGS AND DANCE IN CULTURAL SETTING Most cultural activities have an accompanying song.
